The short version: we collect what a dating profile needs and what
you share in the app; we use it to run Flè and keep it safe; we
never sell
your data and we don't run ads or third-party trackers. Deleting your
account permanently deletes your data. Questions:

1. Who we are
Flè ("we", "us") is a dating app for the Haitian and Caribbean diaspora, operated by
Fle Ventures LLC, a New York limited liability company. This policy
explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. It applies to the Flè iOS app
and this website.
2. Information you give us
- Account: your name, email address, and a password (we never see
or store your plain password — authentication is handled by our infrastructure
provider, Supabase).
- Profile: your birthdate (to verify you're 18+ and show your age),
gender and who you want to see, city, photos, headline/bio, prompt answers, values,
languages, roots, and preferences (age range, distance). Your profile — except your
birthdate and contact details — is shown to other users as part of the service.
- Content you create: messages (text, photos, voice notes),
reactions, likes and Hibiscus notes, prompt likes/comments, date plans.
- Reports & support: reports you file about other users, and
messages you send to support (with your app version and device model so we can help
faster).
- Waitlist (this website): name, email, gender, and city — used
only to invite you and plan our launch.
3. Information collected automatically
- Push token: a device token so we can deliver notifications,
if you allow notifications.
- Basic technical logs kept by our infrastructure (e.g. request
logs) to operate and secure the service.
We do not use advertising SDKs, third-party analytics trackers, or
sell or share personal data for advertising. We do not track your precise GPS
location; your location in Flè is the city you choose to share.
4. How we use information
- To run Flè: show profiles per each person's visibility preferences, create
matches, deliver messages, and enable features like date planning.
- Translation: when you translate a message (or turn on
auto-translate), the text of that message is sent to Google Cloud Translation via
our server to produce the translation. Only the message text is sent.
- Safety: reviewing reports, enforcing our rules, preventing abuse. Blocking is
enforced at the database level — a blocked person cannot like or message you.
- Notifications you've allowed (matches, messages, likes — each can be turned off
in Settings).
- Support: answering your messages.
5. Who we share it with
- Other users: your profile content is visible to users who can
see you under your preferences; your messages go to the person you send them to.
- Service providers (only what they need to do their job):
Supabase (database, authentication, photo storage, and hosting — US),
Google Cloud Translation (message text you translate),
Apple (notifications and in-app purchases), and
Resend (delivering support-ticket emails to us).
- Legal: if required by law, or to protect the safety of our
users (for example, responding to valid legal process, or reporting child sexual
abuse material to authorities).
- Never: we do not sell personal data, and we do not share it
with data brokers or advertisers.
6. How long we keep it
For as long as your account exists. Deleting your account
(Settings → Danger zone → Delete account) permanently deletes your account, profile,
photos, matches, messages, likes, and device tokens — immediately and everywhere.
Support emails and legal records may be retained separately where required.
Waitlist entries are kept until launch invitations complete, or until you ask us to
remove yours.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS). Access to data is scoped by row-level security
so users can only read what the product intends them to see (e.g., only participants
can read a conversation). No system is perfectly secure — please use a strong, unique
password.
8. Age
Flè is for adults 18 and older. We collect your birthdate to
enforce this. Accounts of anyone under 18 are removed.
9. Your rights and choices
- Access & correction: view and edit your profile in the app
at any time.
- Deletion: delete your account in Settings — no email required,
no waiting period. You can also email us to request deletion.
- Notifications: control categories in Settings and at the iOS
level.
- Depending on where you live (e.g., New York, California, the EU), you may have
additional rights such as data access or portability — email us and we will honor
applicable requests.
10. Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and
notify you in the app before the change takes effect.
