Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Flè ("we", "us") is a dating app for the Haitian and Caribbean diaspora, operated by Fle Ventures LLC, a New York limited liability company. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. It applies to the Flè iOS app and this website.

2. Information you give us

• Account: your name, email, and a password (we never see or store your plain password — auth is handled by Supabase).
• Phone number: new accounts verify a phone number by SMS (via Twilio) after creating a profile; it keeps the community real. Accounts created before September 2026 may keep using Flè without one. Your phone number is never shown on your profile. A one-way hash of it lets "block my contacts" (below) match your account.
• Block my contacts (optional): if you choose to hide people from your address book, the phone numbers in your contacts are hashed on your device and only those hashes are sent and stored with your account, so the app can keep you and them apart. Your contacts themselves — names, numbers, emails — never leave your phone. The hashes are deleted with your account.
• Photo verification (optional; required to enter Serye or use Ti Koze): if you choose to verify, the selfie you take is stored privately and compared with your profile photos by a person. It is never shown on your profile or to other users, and it is deleted as soon as it has been reviewed. We do not create a faceprint, template or any biometric data from it.
• Profile: birthdate (to verify 18+ and show age), gender and who you want to see, city, photos, headline/bio, your answers (Sa m ap chèche, Mizik prefere m, Pwovèb and others), values, languages, roots, and preferences (age range, distance) — your profile except birthdate and contact details is shown to other users.
• Content you create: messages (text, photos, voice notes, GIFs), reactions, Reponn (your answers to someone's profile, including songs), flower gifts, date plans.
• Ti Koze: the messages you write during a Ti Koze — a ten-minute, text-only conversation with another verified member that Flè pairs you with. See section 4.
• Listen together (Tande ansanm): which song you choose to hear with a match, when, and whether it's playing or paused. The first song you both hear is saved as "your song" in that conversation.
• Reports & support: reports you file, and messages to support (with app version and device model).
• Updates list (this website): name, email, gender, city — used only to tell you when Flè reaches your platform or city, and to plan those launches.

3. Information collected automatically

Push token (a device token for notifications, if allowed). Basic technical logs (e.g. request logs) to operate and secure the service. Crash reports: if the app crashes, a report (what went wrong, device model, iOS version, app version) is sent to Sentry, a crash-reporting service, tagged with your account ID so we can tell one person hitting a bug from many — no name, email or message content is included. We do NOT use advertising SDKs, third-party analytics trackers, or sell/share personal data for advertising. Approximate location, only if you allow it: when you choose "use my current location," Flè reads your device's coarse location (city-level, rounded to about a kilometre — never a precise or street-level fix) to set your area and show how far away people are. You can also just type a city instead. Your exact coordinate is never shared — others only ever see a city name and a rounded distance.

Trips, if you add one: the city and dates you enter are stored until the trip ends. Other members can see the city and the month on your card. Invites: if you use or share an invite code, we keep which account invited which, to give the reward. Calendar, if you allow it: used on your device to add dates you confirm and warn you about overlaps; your calendar is not sent to us.

4. Ti Koze

• Only verified members can use Ti Koze. Flè pairs you with another verified member who is looking at the same time and who matches who each of you wants to see. People you've blocked, or already matched with, are never paired with you.
• During the ten minutes, the other person sees your first name, age, city, roots, and one line from your profile — not your photos. Photos appear only once the ten minutes end.
• Phone numbers, links, and social handles are blocked in Ti Koze messages.
• If you both choose to keep talking (Kontinye), you become a match and the conversation moves into Messages.
• We keep Ti Koze messages for 30 days after the conversation, then delete them. If either person reports a Ti Koze conversation, a copy is kept for up to one year so we can review it, even if an account is deleted.
• While a Ti Koze is waiting or live, your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island show the other person's first name and the time left. That stays on your phone.

5. Date Check In and text messages

Date Check In lets you name one trusted person before a date. It is optional and off unless you set it up.

• What you give us: your trusted person's first name and mobile number, and the date's time and place (and, if you add it, who you're meeting). Their number is never shown to the person you're meeting, and that person is never told a check-in exists.
• Consent first: you send your trusted person a private link. We text them only after they open it, read what they're agreeing to, tick a consent box and accept. If they don't accept, no text is ever sent.
• What we send: at most three text messages per date — a confirmation when your trusted person accepts, one if you don't answer "How's it going?" in time or tap "I need help", and an all-clear if you then check in. No marketing, ever. Message and data rates may apply. They can reply STOP at any time to stop all texts, or HELP for help. Texts are sent by Twilio.
• Not shared: mobile numbers and text-message consent are never shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text-message opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party, except Twilio to deliver the messages.
• How long: a check-in, the trusted person's number and the link are deleted 30 days after the date.
• Your two private questions after a date (how it went) are only for us, to keep Flè safe. The person you met never sees your answers.

6. How we use information

• To run Flè (show profiles per visibility preferences in Discover and Serye, pair people in Ti Koze, create matches, deliver messages, play songs together, enable features like date planning).
• Serye: who enters Serye depends on your photo verification and how complete your profile is. It doesn't read your messages.
• Translation: when you translate a message, its text is sent to Google Cloud Translation via our server — only the message text.
• Safety: reviewing reports, enforcing rules, preventing abuse; blocking enforced at the database level.
• Notifications you've allowed. Each kind can be turned off in Settings → Notifications, and the switch applies to notifications from our server too.
• Support: answering messages.

7. Who we share it with

• Other users: your profile content, your messages to their recipient.
• Service providers (only what they need): Supabase (database, auth, photo storage, hosting — US), Google Cloud Translation, Apple (notifications, in-app purchases, Sign in with Apple, and the song previews and search used for songs in Flè), Google (Sign in with Google, if you use it), Twilio (SMS phone verification and Date Check In texts), Sentry (crash reports — US), Resend (support-ticket emails).
• Legal: if required by law or to protect user safety.
• Never: we do not sell personal data or share with data brokers/advertisers.

8. How long we keep it

For as long as your account exists, except Ti Koze messages (30 days, or up to a year if reported — see section 4). Deleting your account (Settings → Danger zone → Delete account) permanently deletes account, profile, photos, matches, messages, Reponn, Ti Koze conversations, Listen together history, contact hashes, device tokens — immediately and everywhere. Reported Ti Koze copies are kept separately for up to a year. A verification selfie is deleted as soon as it has been reviewed, whether or not you keep your account. Support emails/legal records may be retained where required. Updates-list entries kept until those launch notifications are sent or you ask us to remove yours.

9. Security

Encrypted in transit (TLS). Access scoped by row-level security (e.g., only participants can read a conversation). No system is perfectly secure — use a strong, unique password.

10. Age

Flè is for adults 18 and older. We collect birthdate to enforce this. Under-18 accounts are removed.

11. Your rights and choices

Access & correction (edit profile in app). A copy of your data (Settings → Download my data exports what's on your phone; email us for a full copy of what's on our servers). Deletion (in Settings, no email, no waiting; or email us). Notifications (Settings + iOS). Depending on where you live (NY, California, EU) you may have additional rights — email us and we'll honor applicable requests.

12. Changes

If we change this policy meaningfully we'll update the date above and tell you in the app.
